In an exclusive interview, Glenn Eagles and renowned Melbourne interior designer David Hicks delve into the transformative design journey behind Bouzy Bar, Armadale’s latest addition to the sophisticated dining scene.

Hicks, known for his sophisticated global perspective and seamless fusion of classical and modernist elements,
brings his unparalleled vision to this innovative project.

David Hicks recounts the inception of the collaboration, noting, “Glenn had seen our work at Bar Bambi
and recognised that while our aesthetics were distinct, we had a unique approach to hospitality projects.

Given our history of collaboration on luxury residential projects and his past patronage of Bouzy,
it was natural to join forces for its rebirth.”

The goal was to elevate the existing space by infusing it with fresh life, while respecting its past identity.

Hicks describes his design for Bouzy Bar as a celebration of European charm and timeless elegance.
“We aimed to blend the eras of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s with the allure of Parisian bistros,” he explains.

The result is a design palette featuring luxurious materials like sexy marble, chocolate velvet, polished brass,
terrazzo, and antiqued mirrors, all harmonised with dim, seductive lighting.

The centerpiece of the space is the grand U-shaped bar, surrounded by plush banquette seating
and VIP tables under dramatic antiqued mirrors.

The playful French cancan-inspired fabric skirt around the bar and polished brass accents
echo the glamour and sophistication of Parisian brasseries.

The ambiance at Bouzy Bar is designed to transport guests to a bygone era of Parisian chic,
offering a dining experience that is both glamorous and inviting.

As Hicks puts it, “The vibe is so Frenchy, so Chic.”
